Sundance
Hello again friends,
Another update on the progression of our film. We officially submitted East of Nowhere to Sundance Film Festival yesterday. :)
Sundance is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the United States. Founded in 1978 in Utah, Robert Redford was a major driving force of the festival and continues to be integral today because he believed in the concept behind Sundance. That being, independent driven cinema getting it's deserved attention. Some films that have garnered great success from being at Sundance are Clerks, Little Miss Sunshine, Precious, and many, many others. Another notable film that did well at Sundance was In the Company of Men. And yes, you better believe it, it was also filmed in Fort Wayne, IN and stars Aaron Eckhart who has gone on to star in The Dark Knight.
Pretty lofty goal, eh? Yes. It is. But it was something that we all set our minds to doing well over a year ago. While Sundance is not the end all and be all for marketing East of Nowhere, the point was to create a film that we were confident enough in to send it to Sundance. These days, a "low budget" film generally has at least 1 million dollars. Our film? Well, let's just say, it's not even a fraction of that. But we have been adamant in not letting that stop us from showing our story on the same caliber as those guys. We are extremely proud of everyone that has been involved with this process and we truly hope that you are proud to be a part of it. In the mean time, let's cross our fingers and toes and arms and hide yo' kids, hide yo' wife.... for Sundance!
**Note: we will be updating you continuously as we keep submitting the film to other festivals on the circuit.

UPDATE
Hey everyone,
We have been very busy with the film in the editing stages. We just got our rough cut together and sent it into Independent Film Project's Narrative Filmmaking Labs contest. It is highly competitive and only accepts 10 films a year, but we will hear back from them on a definite answer by May 2nd.
For more info on IFP and the competition go to this link:
Our composer Troy Koch has been working on the score of the film and has brought in pianist Lance Hoeppner from Moser Woods (http://www.moserwoods.com/) and guitarists Peter Lock from Exterminate All Rational Thought (http://www.myspace.com/earthought) and Ryan Woebekking from Lucidus. Vocalist and guitarist Marnée August (http://www.marneemusic.com/) will be working on incorporating vocals into the score.
The score pieces are sounding great and really evoke the feelings of lost innocence and hopelessness that the film creates as well.
We will continue to update as things progress and when the date of the premier is announced.
